Stitching Roadblock

I want to start by thanking everyone who wished my son well.  He is doing much better.  He had a checkup at the doctor's office and he said everything is healing perfectly.  I am amazed by the wonderful comments you leave and the support the stitching community has for each other.  I have hit another road block in my stitching time.  It seems every time I think, here it comes, some stitching time, poof its gone in an instant.  Are you ready to meet said road block??  Well here she is.

I am proud to introduce you to our newest baby girl, DAISY.  My husband surprised the family with a new puppy this week.  She is a love.  I suppose I should tell you a little bit about her.  She is a 9 week old Blue Great Dane.  She flew here from South Carolina.  She has a very nice temperament and is getting along well with our other furry friends.  It is a welcomed distraction although our house definitely didn't need more chaos, but I think we thrive in it. (Or at least my DH does.)  Isn't she cute??  I think we are all in puppy love.
Happy Stitching Everyone.

Halloween Fob Finish

32 ct Thunderstorm linen
recommended silks
crystal beads and bat jingle charm
Well, I have had a very interesting week.  I ended up having some stitching time because I spent 3 & 1/2 hours in the waiting room while my oldest son had minor day surgery.  He is in pain but on the mend. I never new how capable I was of being a nurse but I'm not doing bad.  I did the stitching of this while waiting and put  my love of beading to work finishing it this morning.  I love the black cat scissors.  This was a dinky dyes kit that has been in my stash for awhile so I brought it out because I thought it would be a quick stitch and it was.  I substituted Thunderstorm linen instead of antique white and I left the witches off because I didn't like the way they looked stitched up.  No one could tell what they were.  Besides I am more a cat person than a witch.
On the kitten front we now have 2 with forever homes.  They are 6 & 1/2 weeks old and will be going home Oct 6th.  If you have been following these wonderful balls of fur I am happy to tell you the BeBe and Charlee are the lucky two.  I will keep you posted and I will post final pics in a week.

Fortune Cookie Friday

Good Morning fellow bloggers and followers,
I have decided to share my love of fortune cookie quotes with you.  Having six people in our family gives me a handful of fortunes each time we have Chinese food.  I personally like to save them when they strike a note.  It always seems like the fortune can be applied to the person that opens it.  So today's fortune is

"Look around happiness is trying to catch you"

Have a wonderful weekend and may you get in lots of stitching!

A Win!!

I wanted to give this it's own post.  Isn't it darling.  I won this on Trillium Creates a little while back and recieved it last week.  It really brightened my day.  It amazes me how talented all of you blogging stitchers are and to share that makes it so special.  Thank you Marie.
Thank you for your comments on my last post.  I wanted to let you know that I did change the colors on LHN October and Sept sampler.  I used Chili Pepper, Peapod, Ye old golde, Copper penney, Roasted Chestnut and Catepillar.  Happy Stitching.

Some Great Fleamarket finds and a finish

I spent Sunday at the Rotary Club Fleamarket.  They hold this event at the local Fairgrounds and there were tons of vendors.  Some stuff great, some stuff junk.  It takes lots of patience to sift through.  My older boys wanted to come along to treasure hunt but became bored very quickly.  Next time I may have to venture out on my own so I can poke around all I want.  Even so, I did find some treasures.

Flower Flogs galore!

These are old needlebooks, some vintage thread on wooden bobbins, a mother of pearl star of david pin from Israel, a tatting shuttle, and a cut out paper card.

I also found two irish linen hankies which I thought would be fun to stitch on. Upon closer inspection of the cut out card I found some stitching done on perforated paper.  There is no date on anything but it appears to be really old.

And lastly, I love these nesting mixing bowls.  They come in all different colors and I don't usually find the full set.  This had all 3 bowls, in perfect condition.  A great find for me.  I love the yellow color.  I did get a few stitching minutes in this weekend and was able to finish LHN October Sampler.
I hope everyone had an excellent weekend.  Happy Monday!

Kittens are growing fast!

Playing Peekaboo

Playful kitties

Oooh The Camera!!

Hey, wake up it's time to play!

Annoyed??
As you can see, these little buggers are much more energetic than my last post.  All kitties are now eating solid foods and using the litter box. YEAH!  They are now 5 weeks old so we have started showing them for adoption.  We have one already spoken for.  I won't tell you.  Let's see if you can guess which one.  I threw in a picture of Olivia (Best Mommy cat ever) because i think it says it all.  How would you feel having 5 rambunctious toddlers to look after.  Tired? Annoyed?  Needing a break?  You betcha!!

On the stitching front, very slow progress.  When did our childrens homework become such a part of our lives.  I mean really.  I don't think my parents ever checked my homework.  All of a sudden the responsiblity is on us as parents to make sure the children do their homework, keep tidy binders, help them safely surf the web for info, create iMovies, powerpoints etc.  (All of this was suggested at the various open houses this week.  The also post all homework on the web so that parents can look up what is do.  What?? Really??)  I think I need to go back to college to get a degree in parenting (and schooling)!  Do they even offer that anywhere??  Needless to say stitching is taking a back seat and as you can tell from the tone of this post I think I'm getting CRANKY!  Hopefully I will get my stitching in this weekend.  Happy Friday Everyone!  Keep on Stitching!

9/11 Remembered

I think there are many who are reflecting today on memories of 9/11.  Where were you? What were you doing?  What do you remember?
I was a busy mom of 3 boys with my 4th well on his way.  I was waiting for the sitter to arrive and was tidying up.  I remember the day well.  It will forever be etched in my mind.  My son's 2nd birthday was that day.  It is so bitter sweet to have a birthday on 9/11.  He has difficulty understanding why I try to keep it low key.  I have trouble celebrating because we lost a dear family friend.  He was young, newly married, and a brand new dad.  I feel for his daughter who will only know him through other peoples memories.  I feel for his mom who never got closure and for anyone else who has a family member or friend that died on 9/11 and their bodies were not recovered.  I still feel gloom and despair when I think of this day that happened 9 years ago.
I want to thank all of the service men and women who continue to fight for our freedom from terrorist.  I wish them safety.

Cute and Furry!

Snuggling

Millie Posing

Myles Napping

Bebe caught in the act of wrestling

Charlie says "How do you like this pose?"

Bebe trys mom's food

Millie and Jessie whispering secrets

Myles takes a break from playing
As you can see, these little furries are growing by leaps and bounds.  Everyone is getting litter box trained and eating wet food.  They are all still nursing but I can tell that Olivia is trying to wean them.  She calls them over when she is ready to nurse and they all jet right over to the milk counter.  They all play hard and sleep hard.   As we enter the room where they are staying they all scramble over to be pet and cuddled.  It's the cutest thing you have ever seen.  They are now 30 days old.  Word travels fast, we already have one kitten being adopted out.  I have someone coming for a viewing Monday while the children are at school.  It's easiest on them not to see which one gets picked.  Of course, they all have their favorites and I am sure if I told them they would try to hide her.
I hope you have enjoyed the kitten update. I have another finish to post.  It is a Pine Mountain piece I finished a couple of weeks ago.  It stitched up so quickly that I was amazed.  I had trouble finding a pillow form for it but finally settled on a bed pillow I had.
I hope all of you have a wonderful Friday.  Happy Stitching!

No time to iron . . . finishes and WIP

LHN Snowy Pines
Natural Raw Linen

Freebie Pattern
Antique Ivory

I have had zero time to blog since school started.  Everything is super busy.  We are trying to get into a routine here for the homework, bus schedules, activities, etc.  I have had little time to stitch except at Wednesday group.  My Peacock Pinkeep progress is slow but I do like the color substitutions.  I think it will look really great when it's finished.  Right now I am trying to finish LHN Monthly Sampler Sept and October. I am on an auto ship for this but I just got them September 7th.  Thats a story for another day. I am also getting ready for the New England Stitchers Retreat in October.  I was kindly asked to co-host this wonderful event.  I spent the weekend with Marie fromABC Stitch putting together wonderful goody bags.  I can't what to meet Thea and the retreat attendees.  I am looking forward to this event.  Until next time, Happy Stitching!  Thank you to all who follow my blog.  Your comments mean so much!  If you are interested in a kitten update I promise pics and news tomorrow.  Gotta run for now!
