Birthday Exchange

Last month I participated in a personal exchange with my stitching twin, Carol.  We both have the same birth month so we decided to exchange during that month.  Carol spoiled me with a beautifully stitched sewing box.  It is absolutely gorgeous and the pictures do NOT do it justice.  It is a Blackbird design.  Inside the box were wonderful stitching necessities.  A mother of pearl floss winder, beautiful threads and thread rings along with the cutest pair of scissors.  All of that was wrapped in two awesome project pouches.  One is a snap pouch and the other is a zippered project bag in matching fabrics.  Carol, thank you! You are incredibly talented.

Below are pictures of the needlebook I made for Carol.  She and I both love birds and I couldn't resist stitching this for her.  I decided to make it into a needlebook.  I also enclosed some of my beaded pins in the needlebook.  Other things in her birthday package included a Blue Ribbon Design chart with fabric, an ort jar, and a clear glass flower flog.  She had been on the hunt for one and I happened to come across a good sized one on an antique mall shopping trip.  You can see these items on her blog

I was able to finish CCN Day at the Beach and will post a picture soon.  (It needs to pay a visit to the ironing table) I hope you are all having a wonderful day.  Happy Stitching!

Dog Day of Summer

Today is Daisy's 2nd Birthday!!  I can't get over how much she has changed in such a short period of time.  She is weighing in at 125lbs and stands at 34" at the shoulders. As you can see from the pictures everything around her has grown as well.  From the dog bed to the feeding dish we have had to Daisy size everything.   Happy Birthday to my sweet girl.

Stitched With Love Patriotic Exchange

This will be a fly by post because things are so crazy busy.  I had a great stitching day last Saturday and have a great exchange to share with you but I don't have time for pics.  These pics are from the Stitched with Love exchange I participated in at the end of June.  First, the package of goodies I sent to my partner Deborah.  I created a biscornu for her because she didn't have one in her collection yet.  Of course, in my haste I didn't take a picture of it by itself.  The back is slightly different from the front and I had tons of fun creating it for her.  It is a Ship's Manor design included in the chart titled Celebrate.

This is the package I received from Greta!!  Thank you, Greta.  Your stitching is perfect and I have displayed my flatfold for everyone to enjoy when they visit my home.  Missing from the picture are a Stitch Happy pen (which has found a home in my "whitecoat" I use for work) and a small plastic container which I very quickly used to house beads.

You can check out the full gallery on the Stitched With Love Exchange Blog!
Happy Stitching everyone!!

Happy Birthday Gracie!!

Here is a picture of my beautiful girl, Gracie.  She has just turned 12!!  She is a quiet and very reserved kitty but is best buds with our girl Jessie who will be turning 13 at the end of the year.  They are definitely the seniors in the house.  This past week it has been VERY hot and Gracie has taken to laying by Jessie's side.  Cute, but sad at the same time.  She must sense how tired her doggie friend is.  Grace has just started to become arthritic and it's so hard to see how stiff she gets after a long afternoon nap.  It isn't holding her back at all just making me sad watching my girls age.
Tomorrow, I am heading to NH for a stitching day with my Celebrations group.  Can't wait!!  I need a solid day of stitching to refresh my soul.  I hope everyone gets some stitching time in this weekend.
Happy Stitching!

Finished SALs

I finished my two SALs.  The first is by Niky's Creations.  It was a fun, easy stitch and I really enjoyed it.  I am hoping to finish it into a pin pillow with scissor pocket on the back.  It has been much too hot to drag all of my sewing supplies out so I will wait for a rainy day.

The next is the completed By the Bay Summer Mystery SAL.  I will most likely frame this one and soon since it is a standard size.  I would love to add some hand painted detail to the frame and hope it comes out the way I envision it.  After a long weekend of travel I am headed to bed.  We had to pick our oldest son up from summer camp and it was lots of time on the road.  Too bad I can't stitch in the car, it would have been extremely productive.  Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stitching!

July WIPocalypse

I can't believe it's that time again.  Here is my post for the July Wipocalypse.  As you can see, very slow going on the WIP front.  I haven't had lots of stitching time because things in my life are changing a bit.  The boys are home from school for the summer and that has realy limited my time but I have also gone back to work. What was supposed to be a per diem position has turned into 30+ hours a week.  I am hoping that will ease up a bit.  I am trying really hard to balance work and home and throwing in a little stitching when I can.  I will continue working this WIP into the rotation and hope to see a finish soon.
Thanks for stopping by! Happy Stitching!
