Great Sadness!

It is with a heavy heart that I write this.  To all of my regular readers, followers and friends you may know that Cosmo celebrated his 5th birthday last week.  On Friday morning he wasn't feeling himself,  he was rather mopey.  I had a long day with the boys, there was no school and for son #2's birthday we took 9 boys paintballing.  When I got home, Cosmo was having difficulty breathing and meowing ALOT!  He doesn't usually meow, we actually thought for quite some time that he was mute.  It turned out he was just a man of few words.  We rushed in to the Animal Hospital and it was determined that he was in heart failure.  I was crushed!!  It was so sudden.  They gave in diuretics to clear the fluid from his lungs, kept him in an oxygen chamber for the weekend.  We brought him home yesterday but the prognosis is NOT good.  The vet couldn't indicate how long he had but cardiomyopathy is not curable.  He is on heart medication and a diuretic.  They said typically 3-6months is the most.  I am sooooo very sad.  I cried so many tears all weekend that I can't cry any more.  I have decided to hold him as much as I can and enjoy what time we have left.  He is not in any pain and quite happy to be cozied up in his bed.  So my friends,  I will most likely not blog as often as I would like but will try to keep you posted on stitch"y" stuff.
This is Cosmo telling me to take a break from blogging.  Thank you for your support!  I never imagined last week when I posted that I hoped to have many more years with my furry friend (truly my stitching buddy) did I think it would be cut short sooooo quickly.

So sorry to read about Cosmo and his health issue. That is so sad and you are so right that he is too young for this. I know that you will make the rest of his time very comfortable and give lots of hugs and kisses. My heart goes out to you. Graycie sends kitty kisses too - she is my stitching buddy!

My heart goes out to you, we can accept hard as it is, the death of an older cat but a young one is more painfully. I know how you feel after having several cat each who lived to 16 years or more. we lost our Tippy at the age of six he was always beside me to the point sometimes of sitting on top of the computor screen.
Keep Cosmo comfortable while you have him then keep him in your heart.

My heart goes out to you. It is so hard when we lose our little furbabies, especially when it's so soon (I lost my little Semi suddenly after 6 short years, so I KNOW what a heartbreak it can be). Enjoy his last days, and give him and extra ear skritch from me!

My heart goes out to you Nataly. He is so young to be experiencing what is usually a disease of much older cats. Enjoy the time you have and make every moment with him special. (((hugs)))

Oh, Nataly, I'm so, so sorry...Your story brought back memories of us bringing our dear cat home from the vet after an operation for an intestinal tumor. The vet said he wasn't able to get it all and gave him a year at best. We ended up loving Shadow for another year and a half until he "told" us that the quality of his life just wasn't what he needed or wanted anymore. Treasure the time you have left with Cosmo--he will never leave your heart...

Dear friend, I am so very sorry to hear about Cosmo. That is how/what my dearest Sherlock died from. I had less than 12 hours to hold my treasure...treasure whatever time you may have. I will be thinking of you and your family. {{{hugs}}} to you.

Nataly, I share your pain with you and know how hard it is. I lost my precious bunny, Buttons, last year and he fell ill on his 10th birthday. I, too, took him to the Vet Hospital the same evening and fully expected he would come home again but 2 days later he was just too poorly. My heartache was made worse because I hadn't had time with him before he left me so treasure every moment you have left, if Cosmos is in no pain then he will be happy and will also treasure all the love and cuddles you give him. xxxxx

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. The only silver lining is that Cosmo isn't in pain. Take as much time as you need to spend with your buddy, the picture of him laying on the computer is truly touching. Take care Nataly and best wishes.

I'm so sorry to hear about Cosmos's ill health. I feel so much for you. My Clark's 1 year passing is coming up April 1st and I'm a mess about it. I try not to let DH see my sadness and tears but I miss him so much. I don't know why they have to leave so soon. Take all the time you need to cuddle with him. He's precious and all love. My best to you and yours.

Oh Nataly, I am so very sorry about Cosmo. My beautiful Finnigan was taken from us very suddenly 2 yrs ago due to cardiomyopathy so I know exactly how you're feeling. It's such a shock. Cuddle him as much as you can. I'm sure he already knows how much he's loved.
