A Couple of Small Finishes

Just a quick post to share my March and April Year of Smalls finishes.  Of course, the stitching is done but the finished product won't happen for a bit.  The first is BBD Pins and Needles.  I stitched it over one on miscellaneous fabric in my stash.  I thought it was 32ct but I have a feeling it was 36ct because it came out much smaller than I anticipated.  I plan to make it into a pin pillow.

The second finish is what i substituted for the April small.  I didn't like that months selection so I decided to go stash diving and came upon this cutie.  It is the Cat Sampler by the Goode Huswife.  Too cute!!  My problem, what happened to the letters A,B, and J.  UUUGGGHHHH.  An incomplete alphabet. My plan is to frame it using a houndstooth wool as the background.  We'll see what I can come up with.  My fabric stores are limited so I may have to use what I can find.

The weather here has been steller although no rain means it's very dry!!  All of the trees are in bloom, and some of my perrenials are made their way to the surface and bloomed.  I have spent the last 4 days doing yard clean-up, gardening and pruning the many fruit trees.  We also took in a new foster family.  An orange tabby named "Rusty" (really, that didn't fit so I call her Miss Kitty) and her 5 most adorable little bundles.  There are 3 boys (1 orange tiger and 2 buff colored tigers) and 2 girls (both torties).  They have been rather shy because of their circumstances so no pics yet but I promise to have them soon.  I hope you have a wonderful day and fit some stitching time in.

I love your finishes! I wonder why the designer did an incomplete alphabet? Maybe there's some history showing where some samplers were done this way? I don't think it would bother me since it's done as designed. Can't wait to see photos of your new foster kitties : )

The incomplete alphabet would drive me crazy, too, Nataly--but it is a darling finish even without A, B, and J!! And I love your over-one stitched BBD--how tiny and dainty it is...

Can't wait to meet your newest kitties :)

Very pretty as usual, Nataly! And you are such a good foster mom to needy kitties. Have you seen the pics of George the giant Great Dane? He looks like he would be a good boyfriend for Daisy- same beautiful color!

Lovely finishes!!!!! I always wondered about missing alphabets on samplers.... Maybe there's a story behind it?

Great new finishes! I hear what you mean about the missing letters... I am working on Rachel Hyde and just realized the Z is missing!?? LOL And the U and V were reversed so I had to fix that too. I guess when it was stitched they ran out of room, but A&B? that is how it should start. It is real cute though. Enjoy your week!

Great finishes! Sometimes you just have to go with the big picture and that looks great!

Beautiful finishes Nataly.
Glad to hear you are having a lovely spring. Rain always helps, it is not good to be too dry.
Hope the new foster family is doing well.

I'm with you on the alphabet. It would drive me bonkers! It's a sweet finish though as is the BBD.

Very lovely finishes! The missing letters would be hard to ignore, but I would give it my best try. I think it's adorable even without a few of the letters.

Lovely finishes! Missing letters would drive me nuts too and I keep wondering, like some ppl here, if there's a story behind it? hmm.. I wonder if my buddy Google would know that :)
