A Couple of Finishes and 10 reasons why I don't like the winter!

On a positive note, I finished a sampler for my friend Marie.  It is by Cross Eyed Cricket called Sea to Shining Sea, stitched on 32 count with DMC.  I only took a picture of it as a WIP and then forgot to take a picture of the finish.  I left the alphabet off because I felt it took away from this lovely seaside design.

Next up, is a finish from a long time ago.  I didn't post it because I wasn't in love with it.  In reading some blogs I found that I am not the only one who had trouble with thread colors on this one.  It seemed like all of them washed away on neutral backgrounds so I opted for a blue fabric and I am not in love with it.  I contemplated restitching it on something else but I have so many other projects that are calling out to me.  Oh what a dilemma.

As many of you know, we have been getting our fair share of snow and cold.  We had more snow this morning and another storm is expected for tomorrow afternoon into Thursday.  I only see it fitting to list the reasons why I don't like winter so here it goes!

1. I am constantly cold.  My hands are frozen to the point that they ache.
2. Muddy boots!
3. Shoveling!
4.  Mittens, Mittens, everywhere never can we find a pair!
5. Extra clothing == Extra laundry don't know if I will ever catch up
6.  Where's my snow brush??
7. Can't take the dogs for much needed walks and boy could they use a long one
8. Cabin Fever!
9.  Having to warm up the car 20 minutes before going anywhere.  My car radio wouldn't work yesterday because of the cold.
10.  Not enough daylight hours.  What's a girl with Vit D deficiency to do???

Thanks for letting me vent!  I can only hope that Spring will be here soon.  I miss the singing birds and sunny days.  Thanks for all of your comments.  They really lift my spirits.  I hope everyone is getting lots of stitching time in.  Happy Stitching!!!

Your sampler is gorgeous! And I like the BBD piece on blue.

Very cold here too and the dry heat is just murder on my sinuses. We haven't had a lot of snow, but a storm is expected to come tomorrow.

I sure hope Spring comes soon, but it's still only January!

Love the CEC finish. Your Snow Garden came out great! I had lots of issues with mine. Yours is the first I've seen on blue. I saw someone else stitch it on a green and that was stunning. It I stitched it again, I'd do that.

AS much as I am envious of snow days, I don't know what I would do with myself if it was that cold. Keep warm!

A wonderful CED piece and I'm sure the BBD one will grow on you. And I so know what you mean about winter - however we still have at least 2 months to go here in Maine. Yuck!

Snow Garden looks wonderful in your picture.

I don't like winter these days much either - too many gray skies - but I 'm in Florida so in the scope of things I really don't have anything to complain about. What's a snow brush?

Oh, I hear you, Nataly--this seems like the winter that will never end. I don't ever remember so many sub-freezing temperatures day after day!

Your CEC finish is so pretty and I like it very much without the alphabet. Don't think I've seen that one before. I'm sure your friend will love it!

I am so with you about winter. I am so very tired of heavy boots to get through the ice and snow. Parking lots that aren't plowed. Trying to walk on ice without falling. Well, the list goes on doesn't it. :(

Love both your finishes. I think the BBD looks really pretty on the blue fabric.

Your stitched pieces are lovely and hopefully you can find a nice finish that will help you enjoy the BBD. I'm a Southern girl and I don't like our winters! We had some snow that didn't stick today. We've had snow 3 times just this month, definitely not the norm for us in Memphis.

Wonderful finishes! Now that you made it through Snow Garden you should treat yourself. Maybe a new stash addition?
As for your 10 reasons, I say Ditto!

I really like your Snow Garden. I have issues with the colours too and I've not finished it yet! They are looking better once I got more stitches in but the dye lots have got me.

Love your finish for your friend.

I get frozen hands too! But I'm sure weather in the UK is not half as bad as yours :) I love the colours in the gift for your friend, what a great design. Happy stitching to you.

hi Nataly, I think your snow garden looks lovely, I started stitching this one and didn't like it on the fabric, your fabric choice is really nice

I love both of your finishes and I think the blue linen on your second finish was a good choice. I'm with you on winter, I can do without all this snow. I live in NH and see that your live in MA, so we're dealing with the same amount of snow :)

I like the BBD on blue -- maybe when you get it finished or framed, the colors will come out better.
