A Small Finish, a new start and a WIP

As many of you know, the east coast was hammered by a Nor'easter yesterday.  My favorite thing to do on a snowy day is stitch in front of the fire. Unfortunately, we had sooooo much heavy snow (more like cement)  we lost power for about 8 hours.  Without my trusty OTT lite there would be no stitching. I decided to help the boys shovel the driveway and back deck so I could get the dogs out.  We probably got about 8 inches of snow, not that bad considering some people got up to 24 inches but it was heavy and back breaking.  It blue skies today and the sun is doing it's best to melt the snow but I think it will be around for quite a while.
On the stitching front, I finished this small design by Hillside to make into a pinkeep.  I worked on my Thistle Accessories SAL and finished the top of pinkeep #1 and started pinkeep #2.

The Thistle project takes lots of concentration and it isn't something I can work on at my Wednesday stitching group so I started another project by Plum Street titled Dust of Snow.  I made pretty good progress but since I only work on it Wednesdays for a couple of hours it most likely won't be done before winter is gone.  Here's hoping.
I am leaving you with a picture of what the dogs do while mom and the boys are out shoveling.  Can Daisy stretch any further???  Well at least the 2 of them were warm and toasty.
Thanks for taking the time to read what is happening in our neck of the woods.  Happy Stitching!

Yuk! 8 hours of no power, it makes you realise how dependant we are on such an invisible thing.
Hope the sun continues to shine and melts away the snow (just too much of it this Winter both sides of the Atlantic!)
Tea for Thee is very sweet although I'm a coffee addict! and your Thistle project is so beautiful with its rainbow colours.
Cute pic of the doggies chillin'

That is a lot of snow.Power loss is no fun. I was wishing I had a snow shovel but, they are hard to find here in SC, lol.
I like your little pinkeep. That blackwork on Thistle looks awesome.
I had to laugh a little about your Dust of Snow. You really did get a dusting.
Go figure, fur babies are so cute.

Your stitching projects look fabulous!

Stay warm!

That is a long time with no power. We purchased a generator so we could at least have water and heat.
Love your stitching and I am surprised that the dogs don't love the snow??? Blessings, Dianntha

Hi,
I must say I am a little jealous of the snow! It is in the 70's here in CA and it doesn't feel a whole lot like winter.
Love the ABC Rose in the picture. Is it a bag of some sort.

No power? That stinks! I'm not sure that shovelling would have been my replacement for stitching though!
Our weather here is noteworthy for its lack of snow. What's happening this year season?

Too bad your power went out, but hopefully you kept warm shoveling snow. The dogs certainly look cute!

When I see the weather news of all the snow back on the EAst coast, I know why I am staying here in AZ! My family is still in RI and they wee all lucky not to loose power....but it took my sis almost 3 hours just to clean off and shovel around her car!
You stitching projects are lovely and the furbabbies, well, they are precious...guess thy didn't help with the snow removal?!

We haven't got many power cuts this winter (at least not long ones that lasts for hours). Your stitching looks pretty.

The pups are tired, no doubt from playing in all of that snow.
I love a good snow day ~ but sometimes there is a such thing as to much snow.
Have a great week

I'm with the dogs, lol. Alabama got its share too, believe it or not and I think another storm is on its way now. We didn't lose power last time and hope we don't this go-round...this isn't normal for us. Love Dust of Snow and will enjoy watching it grow.
babs (who just found your pretty blog)
